{"id":11145,"date":"2025-05-05T14:23:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T14:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=11145"},"modified":"2025-05-05T14:23:14","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T14:23:14","slug":"110m-hurdles-champion-zhoya-returns-to-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/110m-hurdles-champion-zhoya-returns-to-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"110m hurdles champion Zhoya returns to Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Wanda Diamond League champion Sasha Zhoya will launch his series title defence in his home city when he returns to the Meeting de Paris in the 110m hurdles next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paris-born Zhoya enjoyed a breakthrough season on the Diamond League circuit in 2024, winning in the French capital, Rome and Brussels en route to his first ever title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He returns to the Stade Charl\u00e9ty this year, where he will once again take on his idol and rival, Olympic champion Grant Holloway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m incredibly motivated at the prospect of competing in the Meeting de Paris this year, exclaims the 25-year-old hurdler, who last raced a 110 m hurdles way back in September 2023. I have some fantastic memories of it as I\u2019ve already smashed my personal best three times,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As someone who was born in Paris, running in front of my loved ones is always a highlight and I really feed off this energy, which is so intense with all the fans in the stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;After last year\u2019s injury, I was able to get back to the peak of fitness over the winter and I\u2019m dreaming of a new personal best in the French capital thanks to the heat of the competition.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field.
