{"id":11176,"date":"2025-05-06T11:55:14","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T11:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=11176"},"modified":"2025-05-06T11:55:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T11:55:15","slug":"fabbri-to-face-shot-put-heavyweights-in-rome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/fabbri-to-face-shot-put-heavyweights-in-rome\/","title":{"rendered":"Fabbri to face shot put heavyweights in Rome"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reigning Wanda Diamond League champion Leonardo Fabbri will take on a star-studded field when he competes at his home meeting in Rome on June 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fabbri, who claimed his first Diamond Trophy with a stunning performance in last year&#8217;s final in Brussels, launches his title defence against the likes of Joe Kovacs, Tom Walsh and compatriot Zane Weir at the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Italian took his first ever Diamond League win in his home town of Florence at the Golden Gala back in 2023, and he will be hoping to claim a first Diamond League victory in Rome&#8217;s Stadio Olimpico this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walsh and Kovacs are both three-time Diamond League champions and both have good memories of the Italian leg of the Diamond League, having won the Golden Gala in 2021 and 2022 respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field.
