{"id":12230,"date":"2025-05-16T22:15:02","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T22:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=12230"},"modified":"2025-05-16T22:15:03","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T22:15:03","slug":"karalis-to-challenge-duplantis-in-stockholm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/karalis-to-challenge-duplantis-in-stockholm\/","title":{"rendered":"Karalis to challenge Duplantis in Stockholm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis will face his biggest rival Emmanouil Karalis when he competes at his home Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm next month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duplantis is the undisputed king of the pole vault, having won two Olympic titles and four Diamond Trophies and broken the world record 11 times in the past five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olympic bronze medallist Karalis is one of the few who have even come close to matching Duplantis&#8217; dizzying heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Greek star has gone from strength to strength in recent years and recently cleared 6.01m at the Diamond League meeting in Keqiao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It will be a lot of fun to meet Mondo for the first time at BAUHAUS-galan. Competing against him in his home arena means a lot. He is not only a world record holder \u2013 he is also a very good friend of mine. I look forward to pushing each other to new heights,&#8221; said Karalis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Wanda Diamond League<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field.
