{"id":13696,"date":"2025-06-04T14:57:27","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T14:57:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=13696"},"modified":"2025-06-04T14:57:28","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T14:57:28","slug":"hocker-and-barega-line-up-in-stockholm-5000m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/hocker-and-barega-line-up-in-stockholm-5000m\/","title":{"rendered":"Hocker and Barega line up in Stockholm 5000m"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Olympic champions Cole Hocker and Selemon Barega will be among the big names lining up in a world-class men&#8217;s 5000m at the BAUHAUS-Galan in Stockholm on June 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hocker is the reigning 1500m Olympic champion after his sensational victory over favourite Jakob Ingebrigtsen at Paris 2024 last August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though this will be the first time he has run a 5000m on the Diamond League stage, the American has form over five kilometres, clocking 12:57.82 indoors in Boston in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have heard a lot of good things about BAUHAUS-Galan and the atmosphere in Stockholm \u2013 so I am really looking forward to competing there for the first time,&#8221; he said ahead of his debut in the Swedish capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barega won Olympic gold over 10,000m in 2021 and was crowned 5000m Diamond League champion back in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ethiopian star has prior experience of Stockholm, having won at the BAUHAUS-Galan in his title-winning campaign seven years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pair will be joined on the startlist by Andreas Almgren, who is the Swedish record holder in no fewer than eight disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Wanda Diamond League<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field.
