{"id":16432,"date":"2025-08-06T12:33:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T12:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=16432"},"modified":"2025-08-06T12:33:49","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T12:33:49","slug":"jefferson-wooden-and-jacobs-head-to-brussels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/jefferson-wooden-and-jacobs-head-to-brussels\/","title":{"rendered":"Jefferson-Wooden and Jacobs head to Brussels"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Olympic 100m bronze medallist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and 2021 Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs will both burst out of the blocks in Brussels at the penultimate Wanda Diamond League meeting of the season later this month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both sprinters will be hoping to make a late bid for a place in the Wanda Diamond League Final when they line up at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme on August 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jefferson-Wooden is one of the rising stars of women&#8217;s sprinting, having raced to Olympic bronze at Paris 2024 last August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The American claimed her first ever Diamond League win in Eugene earlier this season, inflicting a rare defeat on Olympic and Diamond League champion Julien Alfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently ninth in the women&#8217;s 100m standings, she will need a big performance to secure her place at the series final in Zurich on August 27-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacobs, who stormed to a surprise gold at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, will make his first Diamond League appearance of the season in Brussels and will be hoping to claim a first ever victory in athletics&#8217; premier one-day series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Wanda Diamond League<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field.
