{"id":16818,"date":"2025-08-13T15:33:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T15:33:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=16818"},"modified":"2025-08-13T15:41:43","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T15:41:43","slug":"tebogo-and-davis-woodhall-eye-first-wdl-title-in-zurich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/tebogo-and-davis-woodhall-eye-first-wdl-title-in-zurich\/","title":{"rendered":"Tebogo and Davis-Woodhall eye first WDL titles in Zurich"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Olympic champions Letsile Tebogo and Tara Davis-Woodhall will both be out to add a first Diamond Trophy to their mantlepiece when they line up at the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich on August 27-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Botswanan sprinter Tebogo and US long jumper Davis-Woodhall are both eyeing a first career Diamond League title in 2025, having stormed to gold medals in the men&#8217;s 200m and women&#8217;s long jump at Paris 2024 last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/kipyegon-and-bol-extend-title-streaks-on-second-day-in-brussels\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3642\">Tebogo narrowly missed out on the Diamond Trophy thanks to a surprise defeat to Kenny Bednarek at last year&#8217;s series final in Brussels, and he will be hoping to put the record straight in Zurich.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Davis-Woodhall will make her first ever appearance at a Diamond League Final in Zurich, having notched up three victories on the circuit in the past two seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Tebogo and Davis-Woodhall are among a host of athletes who secured qualification to the final early on and have now confirmed their attendance at this year&#8217;s Weltklasse Zurich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will be joined in Switzerland by 400m hurdles world record holder Karsten Warholm, who is aiming to win the Diamond Trophy for the first time since 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Davis-Woodhall, meanwhile, faces a tough field which includes 2021 Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany and fellow American and current world indoor champion Claire Bryant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Wanda Diamond League<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global athletics. It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field.
