{"id":17651,"date":"2025-08-24T12:24:15","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T12:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/?p=17651"},"modified":"2025-08-24T12:24:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T12:24:17","slug":"omega-moment-of-the-meeting-jackson-breaks-brussels-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/omega-moment-of-the-meeting-jackson-breaks-brussels-record\/","title":{"rendered":"OMEGA Moment of the Meeting: Jackson breaks Brussels record"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Chase Jackson knows what it takes to win the Diamond League title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US shot put star won the Diamond Trophy in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023, and she is out to regain her crown this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the time she arrived in Brussels last week, Jackson had long since wrapped up qualification for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich on August 27-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, she showed exactly why she is among the favourites to claim the series title next week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-time world champion made a modest start to the competition in Brussels, fouling her first throw and marking just 17.81m in the second round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet she took the competition by the scruff of the neck after that, launching a huge third effort which the Wanda Diamond League&#8217;s Official Timekeeper OMEGA marked at 20.90m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was enough to claim a meeting record which had previously been held for 13 years by New Zealand shot put legend Valerie Adams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it also saw off a competitive field, giving Jackson her third Diamond League win of the season and putting her in pole position ahead of next week&#8217;s final. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The crowd was amazing and they really cheered for each and everyone of us so that felt amazing,&#8221;
