premier one-day series once again rewrote the track and field history books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 17th Diamond League season broke new ground in both sporting and financial terms, cementing its status as one of the biggest global series in world sport and the backbone of the international athletics calendar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So from world records on the track to a prize money revolution off it, here are the key facts and figures from 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Global series<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With 15 different meetings in 13 countries across four continents, the Diamond League has always delivered world-class competition to fans and athletes in every corner of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2025 was no exception, as the greatest athletes on the planet set out once again on a globe-trotting road to glory in the sport&#8217;s most prestigious international series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of <strong>1085 athletes<\/strong> competed in the Diamond League this year, with <strong>92 different countries <\/strong>represented. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the men&#8217;s events, the total was <strong>569 athletes from 77 different countries<\/strong>, while in the women&#8217;s events, there were <strong>516 competitors from 66 countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 32 Diamond League champions hailed from <strong>18 different countries and five different continents<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series also welcomed around<strong> 400,000 spectators <\/strong>to its stadiums in Asia, Africa, Europe and the USA, and was <strong>broadcast in 170 different countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>World-class performances<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the biggest stars in world athletics competing week in, week out, records are par for the course in the Wanda Diamond League. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three new world records<\/strong> and <strong>two new world bests<\/strong> were set at Diamond League meetings in 2025, confirming the trend of recent seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Eugene, Faith Kipyegon beat her own 1500m <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/chebet-and-kipyegon-break-world-records-in-eugene\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"15623\">world record with 3:48.68 while her fellow Kenyan Beatrice Chebet<\/a> became the first woman to run the 5000m in <strong>under 14 minutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"lazyload smush-lazyload-video smush-lazyload-youtube\" style=\"--smush-video-aspect-ratio: 500\/281\" data-bg-image=\"url(https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/wp-admin\/admin-ajax.php?action=smush_video_thumbnail&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2F5HiDwoUTHoQ%3Ffeature%3Doembed&#038;video_width=500&#038;video_height=281)\" ><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WORLD RECORD | Beatrice Chebet Breaks 14 Min Barrier \u2013 Wanda Diamond League\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5HiDwoUTHoQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; own history books were also given a makeover with<strong> 12 new Diamond League records<\/strong>, including Mykolas Alekna&#8217;s 71.70m in the men&#8217;s discus in London and Masai Russell&#8217;s 12.19 in the women&#8217;s 100m hurdles in Silesia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 69 national records and 20 area records were also broken in the course of the season, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/olyslagers-shines-as-first-champions-crowned\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"17985\">Nicola Olyslagers title-winning Oceania record of 2.04m in the women&#8217;s high jump at the final in Zurich. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rewriting history<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>2025 also saw both individual athletes and the series itself reach new milestones, as the Diamond League continued to carry athletics into a new era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series broke new ground in 2025 with the largest prize money pool in Diamond League history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of <strong>9.84 million US dollars<\/strong> were awarded in prize money across the season, with 2.24 million on offer at the Diamond League Final alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New dynasties were built on the track as the likes of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/lyles-and-bol-among-champions-crowned-in-zurich\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"18023\"> Femke Bol and Noah Lyles extended their extraordinary Diamond League dominance. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lyles&#8217;
