{"id":3024,"date":"2023-06-10T08:02:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-10T08:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/omega-moment-of-the-meeting-kipyegons-second-world-record\/"},"modified":"2023-06-10T08:02:00","modified_gmt":"2023-06-10T08:02:00","slug":"omega-moment-of-the-meeting-kipyegons-second-world-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/omega-moment-of-the-meeting-kipyegons-second-world-record\/","title":{"rendered":"OMEGA Moment of the Meeting: Kipyegon&#8217;s second world record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On a historic night with two world records and one world best, it is almost impossible to single out one performance.<\/p>\n<p>Jakob Ingebrigtsen got the party started in Paris with his fabulous 7:54.10 in the men&#8217;s two miles, and Lamecha Girma wrapped it up with a staggering world record of 7:52.11 in the men&#8217;s 3000m steeplechase.<\/p>\n<p>But once again, it was Faith Kipyegon who stood out on a historic night where standout performances were ten a penny, delivering the&nbsp;<strong>OMEGA Moment of the Meeting&nbsp;<\/strong>for the second week in a row.<\/p>\n<p>Just a week after her 1500m world record in Florence, the Kenyan had come to Paris on a high, but without expectation that she would make history for the second time in a week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yet as she entered the final lap of a gruelling battle with then world record holder Letesenbet Gidey, it was clear that Kipyegon had a chance to do something very special.<\/p>\n<p>The crowd at the Stade Charl\u00e9ty were on their feet as she streaked away from both Gidey and the green wavelight to come home in 14:05.20, taking Gidey&#8217;s world record and becoming the first ever athlete in Diamond League history to break the world record in two different disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I do not know how I made it. I just focused on the green light and tried to stay relaxed and enjoy the race.
