{"id":3102,"date":"2023-07-17T08:44:43","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T08:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/omega-moment-of-the-meeting-rojas-clears-15-metres\/"},"modified":"2023-07-17T08:44:43","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T08:44:43","slug":"omega-moment-of-the-meeting-rojas-clears-15-metres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.diamondleague.com\/omega-moment-of-the-meeting-rojas-clears-15-metres\/","title":{"rendered":"OMEGA Moment of the Meeting: Rojas clears 15 metres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Mutaz Essa Barshim&#8217;s 2.36m and Iryna Gerashchenko&#8217;s 1.98m in the high jump to Mondo Duplantis&#8217; 6.01m in the pole vault, official timekeeper OMEGA recorded some huge jumps at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Barshim and Gerashchenko were among the 11 athletes who broke a meeting record in the Slaski Stadion, a list which also included Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the 1500m, Haruka Kitaguchi in the javelin and Wayde van Niekerk in the 400m.<\/p>\n<p>Yet one of the biggest jumps &#8211; and this week&#8217;s <strong>OMEGA Moment of the Meeting<\/strong> &#8211; came in the women&#8217;s triple jump, with Olympic and Diamond League champion Yulimar Rojas marking 15.18m to set a new world lead and meeting record in the Polish pit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was only the second time Rojas had cleared 15 metres this season, and may yet prove a sign of things to come with the World Athletics Championships in Budapest now less than six weeks away.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As in previous years, the Venezuelan seems to be moving through the gears and into her best form at just the right time, having jumped a little further every single competition since she began her Diamond League campaign in Oslo last month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I feel very good and I am very confident after the performance today,&#8221; she said after cruising to victory on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>With two wins and 16 points under her belt, Rojas is now well on course for qualification for the Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene on September 16-17th.
