The track action at the Olympic Games in Paris came to a close on Saturday, with several Wanda Diamond League champions among the outstanding performers. <\/p>\n
Faith Kipyegon <\/strong>lived up to her status as favourite in the women’s 1500m, claiming her third Olympic title with victory over Australia’s Jessica Hull and Britain’s Georgia Bell.<\/p>\n Just over a month after she broke the world record at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris, the Kenyan star raced to an Olympic record of 3:51.29 at the Stade de France. <\/p>\n There was more joy for Kenya in the men’s 800m, where a much anticipated race ended with victory for reigning Diamond League champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi.<\/strong><\/p>\n In a race where all the top four went under 1:42, Wanyonyi ran a personal best of 1:41.19 to beat Canada’s Marco Arop and Diamond League standings leader Djamel Sedjati of Algeria to gold.<\/p>\n Elsewhere, Jakob Ingebrigtsen <\/strong>bounced back from his disappointment in the 1500m to claim gold in the men’s 5000m.
